ABOUT
Hindol Chakraborty is the pioneer of Bengali Postmodern Song, and an increasingly recognized Indian singer-songwriter, communicator, music producer, mountain lover, teacher, researcher, and vocalist of Ghazal, Alternative Rock, and Free-Style singing, mostly known for his phenomenal song ‘Kemon Achho’.
Hindol received the prestigious President’s Award in Ghazal in All India Radio Music Competition in 2008 from Akashvani Kolkata. He bagged the 1st prize in Bengali Modern Song in West Bengal State Music Academy Competition in 2008, and also won numerous state and national level competitions. Hindol has performed at various prestigious concerts in India, Bangladesh, and Europe. He is a Guest-Faculty of Indian Vocal Music in Anubhab Academy, Germany. He communicates poetry, philosophy, and lyrics through his songs.
Hindol has lended his voice as a playback singer in films like ‘Vulval: Total Confusion’ under the music direction of Bappa Aurindam, in ‘Sarook se Shahrukh Tak’ and ‘Virus’ under Saikat Chatterjee’s music direction. In ‘Sarook se Shahrukh Tak’, Hindol has collaborated with eminent vocalist Timir Biswas and his band, Fakira. He has sung in an Indo-German documentary movie "Masala Chai" that won the Special Jury Award in Indian Embassy, Berlin. Along with singing, Hindol is an eminent Harmonium exponent, and has accompanied various performers all over the globe.
Besides, Hindol maintains a successful career as a teacher of communication, literature and critical studies, and has worked for the Techno India Group, the largest educational group in eastern India, and has been associated with premiere institutes like Mallabhum Institute of Technology, The New Horizons Institute of Technology, Salesian College (Autonomous) Siliguri and SRM University, Sikkim Campus. Currently, Hindol teaches English literature and critical theory at Swami Vivekananda University Kolkata. Being one of the brightest disciples of Pandit Ramanuj Dasgupta, Hindol adopted the art of meditation through music and monotony from his guru and has applied the art in his own lifestyle. Hindol, as far as his music is concerned, believes in and concentrates on the quality of thoughts, rather than on quantity.

The Passion For Learning
Hindol has been under the tutelage of his father Sri Shyamal Kumar Chakraborty who has groomed him classically,bearing the heritage of the famous Bishnupur Gharana. Later on, Hindol’s talim and grooming became more intense under famous vocalist, composer, and music designer Pandit Ramanuj Dasgupta, with a growing passion for Ghazal, Najrul Geeti, and Bengali Modern Songs. Hindol has been immensely moved by the presentations of Ustad Mehdi Hassan, Begum Akhtar, Bryan Adams, Hariharan, Nachiketa Chakraborty, Ed Sheeran, Steavy Mahy, Norah Jones. On the other hand, in the field of literature, Hindol’s premiere guides are Robert Browning, John Donne, Samuel Beckett, Bob Dylan, Purnendu Partri, Binoy Majumder, T.S. Eliot, and S.T. Coleridge. They, together, make the backbone of Hindol’s work and lifestyle. Musically, Hindol is now the disciple of Ustad Sabir Khan, the tabla maestro and an iconic exponent of Ghazal. Celebrated Tabla and Ghazal maestro Ustad Tari Khan has been one of the guiding stars in Hindol’s musical journey.

In Germany, Hindol came under the flamboyance of musical phenomena like Ustad Zakir Hussain, Shankar Mahadevan, U. Srinivas, V. Selvaganesh, and Jazz guitar maestro John Maclaughlin. He shares a free communication with them that makes him determined to maintaining a deep root toward quality music and poetry.

Hindol is a student of English literature, holding a 1st Class Master’s Degree and a doctoral award in classical theory of Art and the Sublime. Hindol proudly considers Cynthia L. Haven, celebrated American literary scholar, author, critic, Slavicist and journalist, his academic mentor who relentlessly motivates and inspires him to write, translate and rewrite.

RESEARCH and PUBLICATIONS
Being a student of English Literature, Hindol has always been inclined to poetry, but he took “Criticism” as his specialization area. He took Longinus, the famous classical teacher of rhetoric and his treatise On the Sublime which was considered to be the finest doctrine on oratory. His Ph. D. thesis, entitled “On the Sublime: Reflections”, is a mammoth work on style, an investigation in search of the “sublime” in almost every aspect of art. Hindol has authored a book entitled On the Sublime: Criticism, Longinus, the Beautiful in 2023. He has edited two books so far, Tagore and More: Selected Stories (https://www.amazon.in/TAGORE-Selected-Stories-Rabindranath-Tagore/dp/819535582X) and Palli Samaj, the Homecoming (https://www.amazon.in/Palli-Samaj-Sarat-Chandra-Chattopadhya/dp/8195355862). Hindol has translated Rantidev Sengupta's phenomenal historical fiction Ishqnama (https://www.amazon.in/Ishqnama-Rantidev-Sengupta/dp/9393711038) that has established him as one of the specialists in the regime of translation. Currently, Hindol works on the post-genocide Nuclear Sublime, Mimetic Theory in Indian mythologies, Translators' Memoirs and the problems in translating ghazals. Hindol is also the pioneer of the Crick-God Theory that premises on the psycho-sexual discourse of masculinity and Cricket. His publication details are as follows:
